Quick check-in

I'm baaaacck! Ok just a quick update Eric has a scan tomorrow, this is just to ensure that the cancer has not returned, he will also have a follow-up with his Doctor up at Huntsman's. Hopefully we should know all of the results tomorrow evening, I'll update this blog just as soon as he gets the results!! Prayers appreciated ;0)

Boring is good...right?

I haven't blogged lately because frankly there isn't much to tell you. Eric is back to work, and he's loving every second of it...right Eric? He will be keeping his port in a little bit longer, the doctors feel that they would rather keep it in just as a precaution for now, no worries though there isn't any real underlying reason for this. He will be having a follow up scan in a few months, but for now things are quiet. Quiet is good.

Hi-ho Hi-ho

Eric's back to work as of today! He's pretty excited to get back to the everyday things he was accustomed to before cancer. He's feeling well, his voice is pretty much back to normal, and his scaly red burn is long gone. I'm sure that the Price is Right will miss it's most loyal viewer. ;0)

A new update

Sorry for the lack of posting. Eric is doing really well!! He has been tolerating his radiation treatments nicely. He does look a bit like a lobster, and he has the voice of a frog, but overall he's doing well!! These side effects should start to wear off in the next few weeks. He's planning on having his port taken out next week, & if all goes well should be returning to work by the end of the month. He says he can't wait!! P.S. when you put on your green this Tuesday for St. Patrick's day think of Eric, green is the color for lymphoma!

Update

Sorry for the lack of updates, there really isn't much to tell. Eric started his radiation treatments last week, the doctors anticipate that they should be completed by the end of March (things are a little vague with the exact number of treatments he'll be having). I believe or I should say I hear that Eric is doing well. I haven't talked to him for a couple of days, I believe he's laying low and relaxing, and letting this radiation do it's job. Sounds good to me!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Will you all join me in wishing my handsome baby brother a happy 24th birthday!! This year will be better for you!! We all love you!! Eric is going back to work tomorrow, and has his first radiation treatment tomorrow as well. After that he will have radiation treatments each day (Mon-Fri) for 18 days. And then we're going to Las Vegas, Bingo here we come!!!!

Full disclosure

So technically Eric's cancer is in remission. The PET scan shows no cancer cells which is fantastic news!! Eric still has a large mass in his chest, this is believed to be enlarged lymph nodes. The doctor is a little concerned about this, but she believes that the radiation should take care of it. She believes that these lymph nodes are non cancerous, just enlarged, and may take a little time to "go down". Eric starts radiation on Feb. 9th, for right now they are planning on doing 18 days of radiation, this is 15 min. a day, Mon-Fri. They will repeat a scan of his chest once radiation is complete to check the status of the mass. Eric is also planning on returning to work on Feb. 9th (the day after his 24th birthday I might add), so I hope they have big plans for a party when he returns :0)

Very Important...please read

Ok guys tomorrow's the big one (I used the largest, boldest font I have). Tomorrow at 12:30 Eric will be having his follow-up PET scan and a CT scan. Please if you've done nothing else that I've asked you to do please do this for me...pray. Pray for cancer free lymph nodes. If you don't pray than cross your fingers, or throw a penny in a well, or salt over your shoulder, or dig out that old rabbits foot you had in seventh grade and rub it like crazy. But if you pray, please pray for the cancer to be defeated. Eric met with the radiologist oncologist today, they will wait for the results from the scans tomorrow to set a plan for his radiation. Tomorrow is a big day, guys please pray he gets good results.

Upcoming events

Eric has a full schedule coming up...Today, tomorrow and Wednesday he will be recovering from this last chemo treatment. Thursday morning he meets with his new doctor, the radiologist oncologist, from this appointment they will determine the best course of radiation treatment for Eric's situation. Friday he will be having a PET scan, for those of you that joined us late in the game, or don't remember what a PET scan is see this link PET Scan: PET Scans and Cancer Once these two appointments are completed we should have a bigger picture of what further treatments are necessary, your prayers will be very important those two days. I'll keep you updated!!

It's the final countdown

I wish I could sing the song for you!! I only know the background music to that song...Today is a HUGE day!! As I type Eric may very well be receiving his last chemo treatment, we won't know if it is in fact the final treatment until his PET scan next week. But there are some very good signs that it is his last, what are those signs you ask? Well the swollen lymph nodes that caused such a problem can no longer be "felt" in his neck or underarms, this is a huge indicator that the cancer has been defeated!! Although this is his last treatment Eric is still dreading it as much as the first, maybe more so because he knows the sickness that is about to come. He will be reading this from his bed in the infusion room during his treatment so if you would like to post any encouraging thoughts, prayers, or anything else please do!! Eric I wanted to be there today for you, I had planned to, but of course my sick kids have changed those plans, just know I will be praying for you all day, I hope thats enough. He has a full schedule coming up, of which I will inform you of later, for now lets all focus our prayers on this treatment, hopefully his last.

My apologies...

It has been brought to my attention that in my previous post there was a spelling error. I want to take a moment to apologize to all of you that were effected by this misspelling, it was a gross error on my part and shall in no way be reflective of my upbringing :0)

Chemo yesterday

Eric did a little better yesterday, he slept through his entire treatment. But afterwards was quite nauseated, this is to be expected. We wish he wasn't feeling yucky, but soon, very soon we all know things will be better!!
